A Series of Fun yet Unfortunate Events

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

As most of you know, UNC suffered a painful loss to Duke in the basketball game this past Saturday. As a senior in my last semester of undergrad here at UNC, this is a game I have been looking forward to for the past 3 and a half years. Although it sounds awful, I was kind of excited to get up at the crack of dawn (aka 7:30 am) in order to get to the Dean Dome by 8 am for my randomized phase 1 ticket. If we're being honest, I've never really understood how the UNC v Duke lottery works, but one of my roommates (Casey) had our entire day planned out, so all I had to do was follow along.

After waiting in the cold for everyone in our group to get in line together, we were given wristbands and instructed to come back later in the afternoon to get in the actual line. I was ready to go back to bed, but my group ended up going to chick fil a for a filling breakfast and their frosted coffee (game changer).

After (over)eating our chick fil a, my group piled in the infamous red Nissan cube (which is literally a red box) and drove back to my house to get ready for the ESPN college gameday and a game of darts.

The rest of our day consisted of waiting in line for hours to get in the risers (which we successfully did), so I decided to make a little montage video. While we waited patiently in line, I wanted to capture some moments that would reflect how excited everyone was for our hopeful victory. Throughout the entire day, the environment was electric, and you could just feel the glee oozing out of all the fans (see video for proof).

Although the outcome of the game was less than desirable, I am so appreciative of the memories I made with my dear friends, regardless of the painful score.

Love Always,

Kate
